At Vytal, we believe your health data is deeply personal. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use and strictly protect your information when you use our intelligent wellness companion on iOS and Android.
The Vytal Scan Guarantee
We do not store or retain any images captured with the AI Food Scanner. Once our AI extracts the nutritional data from your meal photo, the image is permanently purged from our systems. The only images our servers store are profile pictures you explicitly upload.
1. Information we collect
Personal details: Vytal collects the basic details you provide to calculate your wellness score — your age, height, weight entries and, optionally, a profile picture.
Health logs: manual entries such as blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, heart rate, body temperature, steps, sleep and calorie goals are encrypted and stored to power your history charts and daily wellness insights.
2. How we use your data
We use your data to compute your dynamic wellness score and generate actionable health insights, including downloadable PDF reports for Wellness+ subscribers. We do not use your data for advertising, and we never sell your health history to data brokers or insurance companies.
3. AI Food Scanner & images
When you point the camera at a meal, the image is temporarily sent to our AI for nutritional analysis. Once the nutritional data has been extracted, the image is discarded immediately. We never upload food photos to permanent storage.
This process is automatic and instantaneous. At no point is your food photo linked to your profile, shared with third parties or retained in any storage system.
4. Third-party integrations
With your explicit permission, Vytal can connect to platform health services (Apple Health on iOS, Health Connect on Android). We use this access strictly for wellness score calculation and vital log synchronisation.
5. Camera permission
Vytal requests camera access solely for the AI scanning features. The camera is only used when you actively open the scanner. Images are processed in real time and are never stored on our servers, never linked to your account and never shared with any third party.
You can revoke camera permission at any time in your device settings. Doing so only disables the scanner — every other feature keeps working normally.
6. Your rights & contact
You are in full control of your data. You can permanently erase your profile and all health records at any time using Clear History or Delete Account in the app under Settings → Data & Privacy.
